How to get your Georgia crash report
The report comes from whichever agency investigated, not a central office.

1. Figure out which agency wrote it
| Where the crash happened | Usually investigated by |
|---|---|
| Inside city limits | That city’s police department, if it has one |
| Unincorporated county area | County police or sheriff’s office |
| Interstates and state highways | Georgia State Patrol or local police |
Check the card or paper the officer gave you. It usually lists the agency and report number.
2. Gather the details
- Report or case number
- Date and approximate time
- Location (road names, nearest cross street)
- A driver’s last name
3. Request it
Most agencies let involved drivers request the report from their records unit in person, by mail, or online. Many Georgia agencies use an online portal where you can buy a copy. Reports are often ready within several days, but it can take longer.
Who can get it? Georgia limits who can access crash reports in some situations. As a driver or injured person involved, you generally can.
