CARWRECK.REPORT / FAULT IN THE REPORT
When the report blames you
The officer’s opinion matters to the insurance company, but it isn’t the final word.

How insurers use it
Adjusters often lean on the report to decide fault quickly. A report that blames you can lead to a denial. That’s a starting point for a dispute, not the end.
In court
Georgia courts often limit an officer’s opinion about who was at fault when the officer didn’t see the crash, while facts the officer observed may come in.
Shared fault
Even if you were partly at fault, Georgia law may still allow a recovery if your share is less than the other driver’s, reduced by your percentage.
Evidence that can change the picture
- Video from dash cams, businesses and traffic cameras
- Independent witnesses
- Vehicle damage and event data recorders
- Accident reconstruction
